Washington State – FDI attraction from Indian companies
Tractus Asia India was the official representative of Washington Department of Commerce – WACOM in India. Under this mandate, Tractus was engaged in trade promotion as well as FDI investment attraction. During this 3 year contract, Tractus also organized and executed the Washington State Governor’s trade and investment attraction mission to India as well as outbound trade missions to the State of Washington.
Tractus gained a thorough knowledge of the different industry sectors in the State of Washington to support Washington’s SMEs in their export and trade promotion to India. After understanding the strengths of Washington’s offerings, Tractus did a pro-active outreach to attract investment from India into the State.
Successfully supported more than 100 SMEs with their service requests to promote export and trade to India. These companies from different industry sectors such as ICT; Automotive: Aviation, Aerospace and Defense; Life Sciences; luxury goods; food processing; and infra-structure.
Tractus provided sector reports including opportunities for WA companies and helped companies find the right partners and distributors to start their business.
Engaged with one of India’s largest conglomerates, the Hinduja Group, and initiated their investment planning and inorganic growth dialogue with WA State in advanced aerospace related manufacturing and corresponding value chain.
Facilitated meetings between an American automotive industry-related tech company and some of India’s largest automotive players – Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra.
Supported Tata Consultancy Services expand their base in Washington especially in their strategic growth to promote and train people at Washington Universities to be the future IT experts.
Accompanied Jubilant Bhartia Group expand their operations in Washington.
After a due diligence convinced 2 Indian IT companies and a bio-fuel company to invest in Washington.
Governor Trade and Investment Mission to India in 2012
Tractus successfully planned and executed the Governor Trade and Investment attraction mission toIndia with a delegation of 30 visiting 3 cities of Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
Tractus managed to arrange round table seminars in each city and for each delegate one to one meetings with potentials clients.
Amongst the events, the Governor signed MOUs with the State of Andhra Pradesh with the Chief Minister and the cabinet and members of the Assembly to partner with the State of Washington for trade and cultural exchange.
Tractus arranged for several MOUs to be signed between different industry sector associations and multiplier organizations. In each city the US Embassy or US Consulate hosted a reception on behalf of the Governor and the delegation with local government and industry leaders.
Apart from visits to several factories and industrial zones, Tractus arranged for meetings and site visits with top Indian business leaders from conglomerates and groups such as Tatas, Hindujas, GMR, GVK, Sujana, Surana, Bhartia Jubilant and IT companies such as TCS, Infosys, Infotech, Rolta, Microsoft.
At the end of the Mission the Governor commented: “this was the best overseas trip that I have undertaken during my two legislative periods. Pity that it is the last trip and I should have done this trip during the beginning of my first trip. Tractus has done an excellent job in arranging every detail of this mission”.
The Director of Department of Commerce commented: “We have never had so many such high level meetings during such a short visit to any country. We are surprised of the potential in India and we were not aware of so many billion dollar companies and groups in this country. Thank you for arranging the meetings.”
