Jakarta, Indonesia, 21-22 October 2015. Tractus Indonesia Country Representative, Daniel Bellefleur, chaired and presented at Lnoppen’s 3rd Annual Southeast Asia Retail Expansion Summit at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta. The conference attracted over 140 professional retail delegates from a wide range of companies and sectors within the retail industry. Daniel gave an overview of the Indonesian macro economy, highlights within the overall retail sector, and forecasts for the industry’s near and mid-term growth potential. Although Indonesia’s economy slowed in 2015, the archipelago is still one of the most promising destinations for retailers and a diversity of products. According to A.T. Kearney’s Global Retail Development Index, Indonesia now stands as the 12th most attractive nation for retail investment, with total retail sales increasing 14.5% last year. With over 250 million people and an emerging middle class, both international and local retailers from brick and mortar shops to cutting edge e-commerce companies are looking to expand operations within Indonesia.
